A member of the French National football team, winner of the UEFA European Championship in 1984, Daniel Bravo was appointed ambassador of Nice for the UEFA Euro 2016. Indeed, he began his professional career with the local team, OGC Nice (Les Aiglons).
The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, announced the news on 16 February 2015, at the yearly awards ceremony for Les Victoires du Sport of Nice at the Acropolis Convention Centre, with the draw for the playoffs.
Daniel Bravo began his career at the age of 17 in Nice, where his flowing locks and graceful shooting style earned him the nickname of ‘Little Prince of Le Ray’ (for the name of the city’s former stadium). He continued sporting the Aiglons’s jersey 175 times, playing for Nice from 1980 to 1983, 1987 to 1989 and 1999 to 2000, before ending his career.
It must be added that he won titles in the French Championship (1994), French Cup and French League Cup (1995), as well as the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup with the PSG Paris team (1996).
Today, at 52, with 13 selections and one goal with the French national team to his credit, Daniel Bravo is a popular consultant with the Canal Plus private television channel.
