In attendance of the Mayor President Mr Christian Estrosi, and of the Ambassador of the city Daniel Bravo, this appointment marks an important step in the hosting of this event.

ARTICLE ONE YEAR TO GO
After welcoming the French soccer team in June 2014 and before hosting the Women’s World Cup of the FIFA in 2019, Nice is preparing for the EURO 2016. All through a festive day marked by strong symbols, Nice inhabitants and future spectators of the European meetings at the Grand Stade of Nice, had have the possibility to discover workshops, stands and other free activities that will be proposed throughout the competition.

“Nice, land of soccer, organizing city of major sports events, is mobilizing to host the EURO 2016,” began Christian Estrosi, in front of numerous guests and of children of Nice schools. They were overjoyed for being allowed to join the party and participate to two treasure hunts. But also, they enjoyed some time in the company of Eric Bauthéac, OGC Nice soccer player from 2012 to 2015.
“The coming of the EURO and the media coverage that linked to that (championship) will demonstrate, once again, the inevitable international dimension of our city, its festive tradition, its touristic potential, its continual and affirmed will on the ecological field, its ambitious transport policy and its expertise in terms of security, “added Mr. Estrosi.
“Nice is one of the 10 host cities and it was not a foregone conclusion”, rejoiced the Mayor, who wants to anchor its city in the French sporting landscape. If Nice is the second most national tourist city, hosting one of the biggest international sporting events will offer a new dimension: “The hotel industry, the transport and the business areas are already eager to live this celebration and to welcome foreign visitors.”
